The airline, SA Express, was once again prevented from resuming flights due to R70 million owing to ACSA for landing rights.

In the meantime, SA Express has an account from suppliers that have redone the engines of their fleet. The company is currently negotiating with Treasury for a R200 million lifeline.

According to aviation experts, the sudden cancellation of flights for Wednesday 28 August 2019, is a sign that SA Express and its parent company SAA should close their doors.

According to Mike Schüssler, the two entities are not immune to failure and the current history of SAA and SA Express could cause travel agents to avoid the two entities when making reservations.

Ramaphosa is still looking for a private partner for SAA as well as other bankrupt government entities.
