Nati van der Merwe (53) and his wife Arinda, from a farm near Amersfoort, were watching television on Saturday October 17, 2015 at about 14:00 when they were stalked by four attackers.
Van der Merwe saw them and went to investigate. The attackers were already on the porch.
They immediately fired shots at him. Of about ten shots none hit him.
Van der Merwe returned fire and one attacker was shot dead and a second one seriously wounded.
The other two fled, but the region’s farmers, with the help of Kasselman Security Services apprehended the attackers quickly and handed them over to the police.
The Van der Merwe family was not injured in the incident.
