The budget of R259 billion, proposed by Minister Aaron Motsoaledi for the planned national health insurance (NHI), was apparently “sucked out of the thumb” and he admits that “we made a mistake” with the calculations.

He went to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank, who both asked him, “Why are you trying to do it?” The cost can not be quantified by any human being because there are too many variables.

According to experts, he is doing a desperate attempt that has been extinguished from the outset and even the auditor general has declared that public health has collapsed in its entirety.

Estimates show that it will take fifteen years to implement the NHI plan.
