The Auditor General found that government has wasted at least R296 million at national, provincial and local government levels over the past five years. Ongoing unauthorized, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenses has resulted in the mess.

There was a 121% increase in irregular expenditure, and a 68% increase in unauthorized expenses. About 236% increase in fruitless and wasteful expenditure is a clear proof of reckless management and inability.
