The ANC realizes that it will not be easy to determine exactly who the 26 Parliamentarians are, that voted for the motion of no confidence in their leader, Jacob Zuma. Also, the party is divided as to whether or not they should try and find the members and prosecute them.
To keep both sides happy, the ANC’s work committee announced that they would discipline the parliamentarians who openly said they were going to vote for the no confidence vote.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe stated that they will not conduct a witch hunt, but the members who openly said that they will support the motion will be disciplined because if the party does not do it, it will lead to the destruction of the organization.
The names mentioned in this regard are those of former ministers Pravin Gordhan, Derek Hanekom and MPs Makhosi Khoza and Mondli Gungubele.
