The irresponsible actions of SAA’s board and management have now been revealed and should lead to the immediate liquidation of the bankrupt state entity. This is the opinion of a well-known economist after it became known that SAA has never submitted its financial statements to Parliament since 2017 as required.
He says the government is therefore equally guilty of mismanagement because the airline had already gone bankrupt in 2018 and had to be annulled then due to the mismanagement and failure to make the statements available.
The SAA’s statements will only now be submitted to parliament, and it is clear in these statement that for the years 2018 and 2019 collectively, a loss of more than R10 billion has been shown.
The ANC government is just as guilty of mismanagement by allowing the bankrupt airline to continue operating with no financial statements having been made available as required.
