After the elections South Africa needs healing
Apartheid and White Racism - The Reasons

Now that the elections are over, and political parties scramble to take up the duties of delivering to the people, South Africa needs reconciliation and healing. Will the new mayors and premiers have the expertise to generate a new energy and unite the people? Will there be a responsible leadership to encourage development and investment? Will the leaders and politicians push for the dialogue of understanding and peace?

Jacob Zuma, the president, lacks the intellectual skills to unite the people. Both Zuma and Julius Malema have driven a wedge between black and white people. The racist division caused by a president who apparently wants to retain control no matter what the cost. There is no reconciliation or respect; there is no trust and confidence, and Zuma knows how the citizens have finally woken up. Zuma cannot heal this nation.

Now that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have the chance to govern in a few wards in Rustenburg and perhaps enter into coalitions, South Africans are keen to learn if the revolutionary leader Malema can make a difference. The question is what difference will the EFF make, will there be an entirely honest, delivering government or a reckless, corrupt and disruptive government. Will the people demand the free houses, free land, free everything that Malema promises the uneducated ignorant follows during his campaign? Malema will turn the country into another Zimbabwe.

The Democratic Alliance have achieved a resounding vote of confidence from the public, and this is the only healing that the country will receive. It will be a long and hard battle for the DA who will ultimately be attacked by both the ANC and EFF who will undermine the good efforts the DA want to implement.

The other political parties who have received a relatively small total of votes will remain the backbone of democracy. These parties might follow the healing process by continuing to fight the corruption battle and join forces with every government official who practices honorable principles. However, these parties might remain a grouchy bunch and resort to tactics that will divide the country.

South Africa needs reconciliation and healing more now than ever before. Zuma is an insensitive president without an iota of decency. Zuma might claim that the African National Congress (ANC) is a non-racial party, yet the president mutters a lot of cheap racist talk in the name of the ANC. While Zuma and Malema continue to spread the hate speech, South Africa will not heal. Let us hope the DA can overcome the two evils and reconcile the divided country.
