A new era in U.S.-South Africa relations: major deal on the horizon

The U.S. and South Africa: paving the way for a groundbreaking bilateral agreement

High stakes diplomacy: the U.S. and South Africa prepare for a transformative deal

According to the sources within the White House, the USA are making up a large-scale deal with South Africa – an agreement which might have a great influence on the dynamic of the countries’ relationships. Washington is processing a number of proposals concerning trade, diplomatic and political issues.

This step is an answer to the announcement made by the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa which recently showed urge to conclude a “significant deal” with the USA. During his speech in Johannesburg, he highlighted that he has no intention to justify himself in front of Washington, but he intends to obtain conditions that would be favorable for his country.

“A serious deal is being prepared. We are working on finally  being able to get our relationship with South Africa back on track. Those are positive orders from the leadership. Additional information will come later, but it is a very large-scale deal” – shares the source from the President’s administration of the USA with the journalists.

What exactly will the USA offer? Will it be a new phase in the bilateral partnership or an attempt to influence South Africa’s policy? Sources are talking about serious negotiations which might change the economical and political landscape in the region.

There are no details yet, but the stakes are high. If the agreement takes place, we might live the biggest diplomatic change in the relationship of the 2 countries in recent years.
