In an extraordinary feat of endurance, French adventurer and YouTuber Yves de Preux has successfully reached Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa, after a grueling 19,000-kilometer journey on an electric recumbent tricycle.
de Preux, known online as Kino Yves, began his cross-continental expedition in 2022, departing from Rares, France, with the ambitious goal of cycling through multiple countries. Over the course of his journey, he traversed 16 nations, including Turkey, Iraq, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Namibia, documenting his travels for his 300,000 YouTube subscribers.
In March, he arrived in Cape Town, but his ultimate destination remained Cape Agulhas—where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. After passing through scenic coastal towns like Kommetjie, Muizenberg, Hermanus, and Struisbaai, he finally reached the tip of the continent in mid-May.
“It’s unreal—I did it!” he exclaimed on social media. “I crossed Africa on my trike: 19,000 km from France to Cape Agulhas.”
Now, the intrepid traveler plans to take a well-deserved rest before embarking on his return journey to France via West Africa. His adventure continues to inspire as a testament to human perseverance, exploration, and the power of connection.
