Tips for Buying CBD

From vape pens and edibles, to tinctures and lotions, all with varying concentration levels of CBD, different directions for use, and a slew of other things to think about…. How will you ever choose which CBD product to buy?

We get it, there is an abundance of CBD out there. But we want to help! Here are a few things to consider before purchasing CBD.

1. What are you going to use the CBD for?

This question might seem obvious to ask yourself, but it also might narrow down your choices right away! Do you just have one painful wound on the surface of your skin? Or are you trying to ease your anxiety?

The first step is to choose the form that you’re going to take the CBD:

  • Tinctures – Drop a bit of oil under your tongue to feel results in about 10-20 minutes, which last about four to six hours.
  • Topicals – Rub a topical directly onto your skin if you’re just trying to hit one spot with CBD. This form doesn’t seep into your bloodstream, so it’s the perfect choice for that pesky bug bite.
  • CBD Vape Pens – Ready to inhale some CBD? Consider this option if you are looking for almost immediate results of the CBD, and don’t mind inhaling hot oil.
  • Edibles – Possibly the yummiest choice of CBD intake, edibles are a very discreet way to enjoy CBD. Although the CBD is digested with food, it still gets into your bloodstream, and the effects last a few hours, depending on the person.

2. Check the Concentration Percentage

Often, the concentration amount of the CBD correlates with the price and serving size. (The higher the concentration, the higher the price!)

Look for the CBD and THC concentration in milligrams on the bottle and beware of “cannabidiol concentration”. There are many different types of cannabinoids, but the one you are searching for is cannabinoid.

3. How Much THC Do You Want?

THC is cannabinoid’s popular counterpart, known for its psychedelic effect. This is the part of the marijuana plant that makes you feel high. However, there are grand benefits to allowing a bit of THC to dance with CBD, known as the entourage effect.

The entourage effect refers to the cannabis plant as a whole working together to bring out the best of each cannabinoid. Keep in mind, in most states THC is illegal, so CBD oils must have less than .03 percent of THC to hit the market.

4. What else is in my product?

It is always important to understand what you are consuming, topically or orally.

CBD is derived from the cannabis plant, which easily absorbs whatever is in its soil – toxins, pesticides, you name it. Since cannabis is not legal in every state, there is a lack of testing on these plants and oils.

Try to buy from US states that have legalized cannabis, since they tend hold higher standards of testing. Of course, it’s helpful if the farm is certified organic and sustainable as well.

Additionally, look out for any other additives, like corn syrup, artificial flavors and propylene glycol. CBD oil at its most natural form is the safest, and additives are never necessary.

We hope this helps you determine which CBD is right for you, and happy shopping!
