Hillcrest is home to KwaZulu-Natal’s second Checkers Foods supermarket, which is located at The Colony Centre.
Inspired by customer demands for Checkers supermarkets in their neighbourhoods, the first smaller format Checkers Foods opened in Roodepoort late last year, followed by openings in Franschhoek and Ballito.
Conveniently located and ideal for quick top-up shops, Checkers Foods Hillcrest offers:

- A Meat Market with free range chicken and restaurant-quality steak;
- A bakery with artisan breads;
- A fish counter;

Checkers Foods Hillcrest created jobs for 28 new employees and is managed by newly appointed branch manager, Wolganathan Samson, who joined the retailer in 1999 as a Perishables Controller.
The store’s trading hours are 07h00 to 19h00 from Mondays to Sundays.
