Powerful Dua to Protect Children

Children are a gift from Allah (SWT), which is why it’s so important that they’re protected at all costs. There are a number of Islamic charities, such as Orphans in Need, that work to protect children from hardship. This is because children, especially children without parents, are some of the most vulnerable members of society. As Muslims, it’s our duty to use our privileges to care for others; not only is it important to share our physical wealth, but our emotional wealth, too.

One way we can work to protect children is to recite Dua for them. There are a number of Duas that one can recite to ask Allah (SWT) to protect children. This can apply to our own children or even children in need across the globe.

Dua for Devout Future Generations

We must rely on future generations to continue an undying faith in Islam, which is why it’s so important to recite dua for devout future generations. In fact, Prophet Zakariyya (AS) requested that Allah (SWT) provide him with devout offspring using the following Dua:

“My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.”

Rabbi hab lii min ladunka zurriyyatan toyyibatan innaka samii’ud-du’aa.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

(Surah Ali ‘Imran, 3:38)

Dua for Ethical Offspring and Thankful Parents

As Muslims, it’s our duty to be ethical, which is why it’s so important to ask Allah (SWT) for ethical children. Meanwhile, should we be granted ethical offspring, we must also be thankful for such. The following Dua will help ensure our children are ethical and that we’re appreciative of this:

“My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims.”

Rabbi auzi’ni an asykura ni’matakal-lati an’amta ‘alayya wa ’alaa waalidayya wa an a’mala solihan tardhahu wa aslih lii fii zurriyyati inni tubtu ilaika wa inni minal-muslimin.

(Surah Al-Ahqaf, 46:15)

Dua for Children’s Exams

Exams are among the most difficult times for children, from the stress of the pressure to the difficulty of retaining the required information. As a result, we may ask Allah (SWT) to alleviate some of the pressure from our children by reciting the following Dua:

“Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.”

Allahumma laa sahla illa ma ja’altahu sahlan, wa anta taj-alul hazna iza syi’ta sahla.

اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً، وأنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الحَزْنَ إذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً

(Sahih Ibn Hibban)

Dua for Children’s Dedication to Prayer

One of the most integral Pillars of Islam is to perform the five compulsory prayers. As a result, children should be encouraged to engage in prayer from a very young age to instil the vitality of praying regularly. We can further help our children achieve this by turning to Allah (SWT) with the following Dua:

“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.”

Rabbij-’alni muqimas-solati wa min zurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du’aa.

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

(Surah Ibrahim, 14:40)

In addition to the above Duas, we can also make Dua with our hearts.
