Billy, a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, has left an indelible mark in all our hearts, and his loss is deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on 21 November 1954, Billy was a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to serving his country. As a South African intelligence officer, he held the esteemed position of the head of the South African National Intelligence Agency.
Billy passed away on 14 May 2023 at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy that will endure through the memories and lives he touched. Known to the rest of the world as a staunch comrade, he was renowned for his reliability and willingness to undertake any assigned task. Within our family, he was our anchor, our advisor, and our source of calm. We loved him deeply, and he reciprocated that love to each and every one of us. Even amidst his demanding schedule, Billy always made time for his loved ones, consistently showing up when it mattered most.
Today, as we mourn the loss of this exceptional man, let us reflect on his life and draw inspiration from his example. Billy’s journey reminds us all to prioritise the things and the people that truly matter, for tomorrow is never guaranteed.
