Ayanda Ngaleka, worked at the Super Tyres Brickhill Road branch as a Youth Employment Service (YES) intern from the 1st December 2019 until the 30th November 2020 and was offered a full time position with the company effective from the 1st December 2020.
YES is a non-profit organisation that aims to provide work experience opportunities to previously disadvantaged youth and recently celebrated 50 000 youth lives changed over the past few years.
“We understand that youth employment is important for our country’s economic future and are proud to welcome YES candidates into the Super Tyres family each year,” says Dean Horn – Super Tyres MD.
By providing these young people with work experience for a year they are given a chance to demonstrate their abilities, establish their work ethic and prove their worth. The end result of the work experience is a CV, a reference letter, credibility and an empowered young person who has the opportunity to gain future work.
“Ayanda was a star right from the start. Her eagerness to learn and grow in a predominantly male dominated industry is admirable and she tackles any challenge thrown her way with positivity and determination,” adds Dean.
Ayanda’s scope of responsibilities include administration, wheel alignment, tyre fitting, balancing and stock management. She is also studying towards an engineering qualification and has already completed her N1 qualification.
“Ayanda is a great asset and was recently awarded the 2nd Best Tyre Fitter in the company. She has a bright future ahead of her and we are delighted to have her as part of the Super Tyres family,” concludes Dean.
