The latest edition of the popular Ford Ranger SUV will be released early 2019 allowing customers to make use of the innovative towing technology available. The Ford Ranger is the only medium sized pickup truck that has this degree of towing capability and will be of significant benefit to drivers of the vehicle.

The new Ford Ranger includes a class-exclusive technology, Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage to make the process of transporting via towing much easier for Ford Ranger drivers. Once a trailer is hooked up to the vehicle, a radar which is positioned in the taillights of the Ranger will monitor blind spots that exist till the back of the trailer. The driver is kept informed of any vehicle presence in its blind spot through a specialised system. There is the option of storing trailer information, such as trailer length. This feature allows the driver to store up to 3 different trailer profiles. The length will indicate how far back the radar system needs to operate to provide warning if there is a nearby vehicle.

The advanced Blind Spot Information System is not limited to use with a trailer only and can assist the driver in determining vehicle presence in their blind spot without a trailer as well. Parking is also made easy through a cross-traffic alert technology which prompts drivers of approaching vehicles when coming out of a parking spot. This useful feature will be available as a standard inclusion on Ranger XLT and Lariat models in the US. It is not certain whether there will be an option for this feature in the South African market but specifications for the South African bound 2019 Ford Ranger are due soon.

Ford’s new Ranger has undergone significant testing to ensure it provides the highest possible level of performance on and off-road. There are several purpose-built options which include a highly anticipated Terrain Management System. The sophisticated system is designed to ensure capability in a number of different terrains. The vehicle will also have leather trimmings in the cabin and a high-strength steel frame on the outside.  The release of the new Ford Ranger is accompanied by the Ranger Raptor which is currently being manufactured in South Africa for 2019 release.
