An aerosol painting system intended for the automotive repair trade, for use on small areas of cars or other vehicles, can now achieve the sort of workmanship that was previously only possible with the use of a professional spray gun.
Paint innovator Plascon, has recently streamlined its Automotive Touchup Range to arrive at two improved and value-engineered items – the Touchup Single Pack Fill In aerosol can (300ml); and the Touchup 2K Topcoat Fill In aerosol can (300ml). Additional aerosol caps, for safe storage, can also be purchased. These new products have been cleverly repackaged to give users in the trade a sterling variety of unique benefits.
Firstly, any desired Mastermix Technology – from 2K Polyurethane and Flowline to Cargoline or Basecoat Mix – can be filled in and the can marked to indicate the contents. The idea is that this facilitates professional and cost-effective repairs on limited parts of a car, in any desired colour and the appropriate product quantity.
Next, the area of the car being treated may necessitate an adjustment to the can’s nozzle, and with Plascon Automotive Touchup, either vertical or horizontal spraying is possible without any variation in colour or finish.
And, back in the day, a slightly incorrect ratio of hardener to paint meant defects would soon appear in the dried film. Too much heat or humidity during application and curing could also cause undesirable surface imperfections like cracking. But the new and improved Plascon Automotive Touchup cans have an inbuilt converter, so there’s no need for a hardener to be activated or added. The result? A happy client with a longer paintwork lifespan. The twin pack system also increases the product lifespan as it can be used multiple times after the spray is used.Unlike other aerosols where the paint cannot be used after several days or weeks once the product has been first sprayed.
There are other benefits to the use of an aerosol system over a spray gun for small touchups. No fish-eyes, wrinkling, lifting, dulling, air trapping, grit, mottling, sand scratches, peeling… the list goes on. Always considered a great product for smaller touchups on anything from a car or motor bike to a yacht, these latest enhancements add fewer overspray emissions, better weather and scratch resistance, and the fastest and most economical paintwork repairs at your fingertips.
