Chery Northcliff, in partnership with Chery International, has officially handed over the first vehicles from its groundbreaking Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) range to local customers, a milestone marking a new era of advanced, eco-friendly mobility for South Africans.
This launch arrived amid a period of strong growth for the local automotive industry. According to the NAAMSA Automotive Business Council Flash Report, new vehicle sales in July rose by 20.1% year-on-year, the sector’s best performance since January 2017. Passenger car sales alone reached 36,248 units, with Chery contributing 2,160 of those. The brand’s Tiggo 4 Cross HEV and Tiggo 7 PHEV models secured second and first place, respectively, among South Africa’s best-selling new energy vehicles for July.

These results highlight a clear shift: South African drivers are embracing next-generation vehicles that deliver cutting-edge technology, safety, and exceptional value.

The handover ceremony was attended by Mr. Chen, President of Chery International, reaffirming the strategic importance of the South African market within Chery’s global vision. The event also celebrated another milestone, Chery Northcliff being named one of Chery International’s Best Dealerships in several categories, cementing South Africa’s growing influence in the global automotive arena.
“This isn’t just about moving cars, it’s about moving South Africa forward,” said Asheen Dayal, CMO of DigiCars Group. “We’re making aspirational vehicles accessible and empowering customers to make smarter, more sustainable choices without compromising on quality or features.”
Mobility as Freedom
DigiCars Group selected Chery as a key OEM partner for its ability to combine advanced safety and innovation with affordability, often at nearly half the price of comparable models from other manufacturers.
“For many South Africans, a first car represents freedom,” added Dayal. “Whether it’s getting to work, attending college, or taking a loved one to a clinic, vehicle ownership transforms lives. DigiCars Group is committed to putting that pride and independence within reach for more South Africans, young and old.”
Driving a Brighter Future
Beyond mobility, DigiCars Group is addressing youth unemployment through its Cadet Programme, which recruits young people directly from colleges and trains them for long-term careers in the motoring industry. Notably, many of the marketing professionals behind this event are graduates of the programme, proof that DigiCars is not only selling cars but building futures.

The Chery Super Hybrid range, which includes the new Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 CSH models, is set to redefine the new energy vehicle category in South Africa. Through a fully digital customer journey, from online test drives to financing and after-sales support, DigiCars Group is ensuring a seamless ownership experience focused on fuel efficiency and sustainable driving.
“We don’t just sell the future,” Dayal concluded. “We empower South Africans to live it, sustainably and smartly.”
