Many people purchase stainless steel kitchen appliances not only since they’re aesthetically appealing but they also are good quality and will last a while. Even though stainless steel appliances aren’t prone to rust, they can sometimes end up having rust on them due to the layer of chromium oxide being ruined. Baking Soda

Wash your appliance with some water and then while the item is still wet add baking soda over the areas that are affected by rust. Let the baking soda sit on the appliance for approximately an hour. Once you’ve finished scrubbing the appliance all of the rust should be removed.

Vinegar bath

Clean your appliance with white vinegar by soaking the item in a white vinegar bath and then scrubbing the rust off with a soft brush. If your item is too large to fit in a bath you can add a layer of white vinegar over the top of the appliance with a paper towel and allow it time to set. The appliance should be soaked in white vinegar for up to 24 hours before you attempt to scrub the rust off.

Citric acid

Citric acid is a quick and very effective strategy for removing rust. First, you need to clean the appliance. Then add citric acid powder into warm water to create a mixture and add the item to the solution. The solution should start to have bubbles, which means the citric acid is working and removing the rust. If the solution has no bubbles then the citric acid isn’t working correctly. Keep the rust appliance in the water until the bubbling ends. The entire process can range from a few minutes to a few hours. Once you remove the item from the acidic solution you should wash it with water.

Salt and lemon

If you have salt and lemon juice at home, you can quickly remove rust from your kitchen appliance. All you need to do it mix an equal amount of salt and lemon juice together. Then, use a scrubbing brush to clean the appliance with this solution. Allow the solution to sit on the appliance between 30 minutes to two hours. Then clean the appliance with water and pat it dry. This strategy should let you quickly remove any rust on your appliance without putting in a lot of work.

Sandpaper

When removing rust with sandpaper it’s key to understand that the more intense the rust is the coarser you’ll need the sandpaper to be as well. It’s suggested to have sandpaper that’s approximately 50 grits. Once you get the rust out of the appliance you should use a sandpaper that has low grits and then end the project by sanding the appliance with a 400 grit piece of sandpaper. This will allow your appliance to have a smooth and glossy look once you’re done.
