Whether you want to refresh your house and are looking for some inspiration, or you just want to see what’s popular at the moment, you’re in the right place! We Buy Any House have outlined their favourite design trends and how to achieve them!

Keep it simple

This last year has been anything but simple for millions of us, so watching this trend emerge is a perfect palette-cleanser that we’re all so thrilled to experience. It focuses on softer, neutral colours that create a welcoming, relaxing space. This style is developed from wooden textures, and warmer toned shades paired beautifully with big fuzzy cushions and blankets that make your room even cosier.

Before now, the white and grey colour scheme was the favourite in homes across the country, but warm tones are coming back strong, perfect as we’re transitioning into the summer!

Cottagecore

This trend started last year at the start of the pandemic and is continuing to evolve into a stunning, sophisticated style. Cottagecore has developed into a rustic classic that fits in incredibly in so many homes. A perfect style for any home with exposed brick walls or old beams, this trend merges true home comforts with classic, old-fashioned twists to create a gorgeous combo.

This style works better with warmer tones like terracotta, burnt ochre, and cashmere. Cottagecore is also an incredibly popular style for anyone looking to go back to a simple, nature-inspired style in their homes. It also pairs incredibly well with potted plants that have big, bold leaves that will make those warm colours really pop.

Bright and bold

Last year, most of the interior design trends tended to focus on the more neutral colour palettes, giving a subtle but impressively stunning result. Now, we’re seeing homes move away from these tones, with the introduction of bold colours entering millions of homes.

One of our personal favourites is seeing the introduction of jewel tones in the house – think dark, emerald shades that look amazing as a feature wall in a room or in the form of accessories, especially paired with a classic gold. Sapphire blue is also a very popular option that looks wonderful with bright silver accents. These colours are a big change to make, especially from the typical cream or white tones that are the standard choice, especially on the walls, but these bright colours are an impressive, refreshing change that we can’t wait to see more of.

Earthy tones

Not unlike the cottagecore colour palette, but with an exciting different spin, the introduction of these earthy tones throughout the home is giving a completely different vibe to a lot of rooms that we’ve never experienced before. These colours are massively welcoming and provide a new level of comfort that cool-tones homes don’t always achieve, as well as embracing a nature-inspired theme.

Lean towards mushroom greys and browns, rich deep reds and greens that have a warm tone to create a stunning atmosphere that lets you get back to the true roots of the inspiration.

True blue

Everyone desires time outside, especially after the struggles of the last year, and how better to satisfy that than by welcoming in some ocean-influenced style to your interior? Stunning blue hues look perfect when they’re paired with wooden textures that look like warm sandy shores and next to some white pieces of furniture, offering you your own little holiday escape in the comfort of your own home.

This trend is even more popular as it’s impressively versatile and can be adjusted to any taste and preference, with almost every shade of blue looking beautiful with white or wooden features. Whether you like to keep your home light and airy or want to go for a more dramatic style with deep, inky blues, this is a great style with plenty of flexibility.

Shabby chic

A trend that is an old classic but keeps coming back with more and more style each time, the shabby chic style will always be a popular option in homes across the country. It’s a really flexible trend that allows you to add little touches here and there, or to go all out depending on what level you choose, but no matter what you choose to go with, it always looks absolutely beautiful.

Picking up these well-loved items in charity shops or at online markets will help you really channel the true authenticity of this trend, especially with pieces of furniture that haven’t been fully restored yet. When working to create the shabby chic look, the imperfections are what really nails the style, so chipped surfaces, sun-faded panels and scratched units combine to create a fascinating home!

No matter your taste or style, there’s always a gorgeous option for you to choose so you can develop and change up your home; whether you’re doing it to make your mark and settle in or to make the place more attractive to sell, these interior design trends will give you plenty of inspo!
