Recently, SA WOMAN IN ACTION MOVEMENT, a non-profit organisation based in Pretoria, partnered with the P.R.S Taxi Association (Pretoria, Randburg, Soshanguve), in an impacting anti-drug activity at one of their largest taxi ranks in Olievenhoubosch Pretoria. Disgusted with the drug problem in their community, tireless volunteers of the women empowerment group delivered a hard-hitting presentation about the harmful effects of drugs and distributed the Truth About Drugs booklets to hundreds of local taxi drivers and passengers.

According to Lucy Seolela, leader of the SA WOMAN IN ACTION MOVEMENT, after her team first had delivered an eye-opening Drug-Free World seminar to several members and staff of the P.R.S Taxi Association, top executives of the association insisted they collaborate together with the notorious “drug-prevention squad” to spread awareness on the dangerous consequences of drugs and substance abuse. This now led to a large event where over a thousand people were presented with true facts about drugs.

“The drug pandemic in South Africa is absolutely despicable and heart-wrenching!”, Seolela said fiercely. “Sadly, my own son had an issue with dagga and crystal meth. As a mother, the despair I had of this experience makes it almost too difficult to share”, Seolela added. “I walked into the Church of Scientology, where I was given the ‘Truth About Drugs’ booklets from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World. I can honestly say, this was a day I will never forget.”

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit public benefit corporation, that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. Drug-Free World is proudly sponsored by the Church of Scientology and Scientologists all over the world, as its founder L. Ron Hubbard said, “…the problem of substance abuse is finally a problem of the human spirit and cannot be resolved unless addressed accordingly.” The Foundation for a Drug-Free World has been ever-expanding in some 180 countries since the year 2006.

“After visiting the Church of Scientology, my son accidently came across the ‘Truth About Drugs’ booklets that were given to me there”, added Seolela. “Miraculously, after reading the knowledge contained in that book, he had conclusively decided to stop taking drugs once and for all and has stayed clean ever since”.

Per Seolela, the SA WOMAN IN ACTION MOVEMENT has been making great inroads on their drug awareness activities with the taxi industry and the community at large. The women empowerment group has thus been specially invited by SANTACO to participate in their National Prayer Day Against GBV, Taxi Violence & Drug Abuse event on 21 October 2023, which will be held at the Botshabelo Stadium in the Free State.

“Based on my own personal experiences, I see a dire need to warn and protect other mothers and youths in the community, by doing exponential amounts of drug education and awareness activities”, said a tenacious Seolela. “Thanks to the Foundation for a Drug-Free World and the Church of Scientology, I have the tools to carry out my goal of creating a drug-free South Africa”.
