Powerful Dua for Good Health in Ramadan

While Ramadan is among the most blessed times of the year, it is the time in which our bodies are placed under the most strain. In bringing ourselves closer to Allah (SWT), we refrain from drinking and eating during the daylight hours, which can sometimes feel like a struggle. As a result, we may engage in dua during this time so Allah (SWT) can help us maintain good health for Ramadan 2023.

Of course, we should always be making an effort to engage in dua; however, this is particularly important during the month of Ramadan. This month is wholly dedicated to deepening our connection with Allah (SWT), and it’s vital that we fulfil this.

Ramadan Dua Guidance

When making dua for Ramadan, the early stages should see us setting our goals for the month ahead. These duas can be long or short, so long as our intentions are clear.

Aside from our own personal duas, we should remember a handful of common duas, as these will be important to us in a number of instances throughout Ramadan. As a result, we should commit these to memory or note them down on our phones, so we have easy access to them.

We can also ensure these duas are within reach by creating dua cards that can be dotted about the home. This can facilitate the rewards for ourselves and our family members alike, as it acts as a constant reminder that dua must be recited. Whether we’re off to bed or leaving the house, it’s always a good time to recite dua.

We want to see our Ramadan filled with good health and numerous blessings, meaning we must express devotion to Allah (SWT) by way of our duas.

Dua for the Last Odd Nights of Ramadan (Laylat al-Qadr)

The final odd nights of Ramadan are among the most virtuous of the entire month, meaning dua should be recited to ensure the rewards are reaped on Laylat al-Qadr. Since the specific date of Laylat al-Qadr is unknown, we should recite the following dua on each day of the final odd nights:

Oh, Allah, you are forgiving, and you love forgiveness, so forgive me.
Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbu al-afwa fa’fu anni.
همَّ إنَّك عفُوٌّ تُحبُّ العفوَ فاعْفُ عنِّي [Tirmidhi]

The Breaking the Fast Dua

Each evening of Ramadan will see us breaking the day’s fast. When done with other people, this becomes a very ceremonial activity, meaning an appropriate dua is necessary. This dua is as follows:

May the fasting people break fast at your place and may the pious eat from your food, and may the angels pray for you.

aftara indakum as-saa’imoon, wa akala ta’aamakum al-abraar, wa sallat alaikum al-malaa’ikah.

طر عندكم الصائمون ، وأكل طعامكم الأبرار ، وصلت عليكم الملائكة [Ibn Majah]

Dua to Manage Feelings of Anger

We are only human, meaning we may succumb to feelings of anger. Despite this, Ramadan is a time in which we must strive to be as pure as possible by steering away from these feelings. The following dua can help you in this circumstance:

I’m fasting. I’m fasting.

Innee saa’im, innee saa’im

ني صائمٌ ، إني صائمٌ [Muslim]

Breaking the Fast Dua

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) suggested that the time of breaking the fast is among the best times to recite dua. As a result, we might recite the following:

Thirst is gone, the veins are wet, and the reward is confirmed by the will of God.

Dhahaba adh-Dhama’ wabtallatil-urooq wa thabatal-ajr inshaa’Allah.

ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق وثبت الأجر إن شاء ال:له [Abu Dawud]

The above are just some of the duas that we might recite during the Holy Month; there are a number of others that will help us reap the rewards of this auspicious time.
