The Prarambhik asans as entailed in the Sanatan Kriya are potent tools to cleanse the etheric channels of the body. We have been discussing in this series various asans for keeping the joints of the body healthy from where diseases manifest due to congestion of praan. Practicing them daily would lead to a healthy, glowing and energetic body.

To begin with sit with your legs outstretched. Ensure that the back is straight and both legs and heels are joined together. Place the palms on the ground next to your hip, fingers pointing away from the body. If unable to sit in this posture you may sit in Vajraasan. That is your legs folded below and the toes overlapping from the back.

Place the middle three fingers on your shoulder and start rotating the arms in forward direction. Try to touch the elbows in front of the face, and back of the palms behind you as you rotate the arms. Inhale in half rotation and exhale in half rotation. Repeat this seven times then do the same motion in backward direction.

Now we move to eye rotations. Rotate the eye balls in clockwise and anticlockwise direction seven times inhaling and exhaling in each half rotation.

The last asan in this series is the neck rotation. Rotate the neck clockwise seven times inhaling and exhaling seven times in each half rotation. Now repeat the same in anticlockwise direction. These seemingly simple rotations play an important role in removing the energy blockages in the various joints that are rotated. It is advisable to keep your eyes closed and maintain the internal awareness of the body part that is being rotated to ensure maximum benefit.

This completes all the prarambhik asans which if performed daily would gives its practitioner a healthy and disease free body. For a yogic practitioner they are must as they prepare them for higher practices of Yog Sadhana.
