If you have thousands of ants in your household, it becomes a problematic thing to sustain. The infestation gradually increases, and the removal of the problem becomes tough. Usually, people look for the toxic Chemicals that will keep away the ants.  But, these chemicals pose risks to the respiratory systems.

It’s better to use the natural repellents that will curb and kill the population. In this article, you will know about some of the natural remedies that will reduce the population of an ant.

  • Mint

Peppermint works as a natural insect repellent. When you spray this peppermint around the home or the oil of it, you can rest assured that it will work as a natural remedy for the control of the ants.  Ants don’t approve of the smell and will stay away from the minty fresh aroma. It will help if you plant mint around the entryways and perimeter of the home. You can also place the few drops of the peppermint essential oil on the cotton ball and then use it in the affected areas.

  1. Cayenne or Black Pepper

Ants can’t sustain the smell of the Cayenne and black pepper. So, you must look at the source of the ant infestation and the problems. Then sprinkle some pepper around that area. There is another alternative solution to it. All you have to do is mix some pepper with the water and spread the ant’s resulting solution. Though it won’t kill the ants immediately, it will keep them away from returning.

  1. Tea tree oil

This is one of the most well-known solutions for deploying and killing ants. All you have to do is mix the 5 to 10 drops of the tea tree oil with the two cups of the water and use it as the spray. You can also saturate the cotton balls and place them around the home wherever you see the excess of the ant. You can try making a mixture that will combine the tea tree oil and peppermint oil and water. Like other essential oils, tea tree oil will also keep away pests without harming the pets. You can also find it in the local grocery store or order it online.

  1. Cornstarch

If you have a large population of ants in your property, you can use cornstarch to keep them away. Liberally pour it over the entire group of the ants and then add water on top of it. This mixture will become a messy situation, but it will keep away many dead ants encased in the cornstarch. Cover the ants with the cornstarch and then vacuum them instead of using the water. Dispose of the vacuum bag as soon as the ants get killed.

  1. Cinnamon leaf essential oil

There are certain compounds in the cinnamon oil like the Trans Cinnamaldehyde that will be effective in killing and deterring the population of ants. Anecdotal presence in cinnamon oil is also effective. You can try saturating the cotton balls with the oil and leave them around the areas like window sills or baseboards.
