ONOMO Hotel Durban’s new Topaz Restaurant & Skybar has arrived just in time for the summer season in South Africa’s city of sizzle – and becomes the only rooftop bar of its kind in the city. The sophisticated space boasts astounding views of the Indian Ocean and city surrounds, complemented by a mouth-watering food menu and array of expertly-mixed cocktails that showcase the flavours of Africa.

A venue for all seasons

By day, it’s a stellar 6th floor events venue with the Indian Ocean, Moses Mabhida and Kings Park stadia as part of its panorama, a gem of a space subtly accented in the hues from which it takes its name.

At night, 360 degrees of sparking city lights form the backdrop, making Topaz Restaurant & Skybar the perfect venue to meet with friends or host glamorous events, indulge in a delicious meal and enjoy some fantastic local live music. The dazzling décor is sleek, stylish and modern, with warm wood and vibrant African prints offset by unique mood lighting. The menu is rooted in South African flavours – but references the myriad culinary influences of the continent, which ONOMO Hotels group calls Home.

The eclectic Topaz Restaurant & Skybar by ONOMO Hotel Durban enjoys a unique location by the sea. It is open to the public from Thursday to Saturday (16:00-23:00) and 14:00-23:00 on Sundays. Visitors can be assured of the highest COVID-19 sanitising and safety standards, with ONOMO Hotel Durban’s sanitising processes recently being certified by Bureau Veritas, the world leader in testing, inspection and certification services.

A space for work and play

Besides Topaz Restaurant & Skybar, the ground floor is also home to the Ingwe Terrace – adjacent to the swimming pool. Ingwe is a gourmet restaurant specialising in delicious, regional cuisine made from only the finest locally-sourced ingredients in a relaxed ‘shebeen-chic’ environment. It’s a great spot for a business get-together or a fantastic flame-grilled meal with friends.

ONOMO Hotel Durban is a destination for both business and leisure travellers, with 160 comfortable rooms and ample conferencing and eventing spaces which can host up to 160 delegates – with one of the fastest internet connections in the city. Simultaneously sophisticated and playful, the décor at ONOMO Hotel Durban mixes styles from across Africa – bare brick, sleek lines, vibrant accents and unique touches that delight.
