Just five years after releasing its first wines, Redamancy Vineyards is beginning to make its mark on South Africa’s premium wine landscape.
The Devon Valley producer has received two Gold medals at the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for its Brave Chardonnay 2024 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, while the Brave Chardonnay 2024 also achieved 96 points at the Fine Wine Awards of American Express, the highest score given to a Chardonnay.
For founders Antoinette Rapitsi and Marc Van Uytvanck, the recognition represents an important milestone in a journey that began long before the first Redamancy bottle was released in 2022.
Around 2010, the couple found themselves returning time and again to the same corner of Stellenbosch. What began as a love of the landscape slowly became a vision of vineyards, long lunches, bottles shared around the table and a life lived closer to the rhythm of the land.
When the Devon Valley property came onto the market in 2015, that vision found its home.
They named it Redamancy – pronounced RED-uh-man-see – from the classical Latin for reciprocal love: the act of loving and being loved in return.
For Marc and Antoinette, it captures both their relationship with wine and their belief that a memorable bottle is ultimately about connection: to a place, to the people who made it and to the people with whom it is shared.
“We never set out simply to collect medals. We wanted to make wines we genuinely love to drink – wines with structure, balance and a sense of place. To see them recognised internationally so early in Redamancy’s journey gives us enormous confidence in what we are building,” says Antoinette.
The Chardonnay Brave has emerged as one of Redamancy’s signature wines. Named after one of the couple’s much-loved Golden Retrievers, the 2024 vintage draws on the maritime influence of the Cape South Coast and combines citrus and stone-fruit character with texture, freshness and restrained oak.
Its predecessor, Brave Chardonnay 2023, received 93 points and Silver at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), and made an appearance in the Tim Atkin report with 91 points.
Redamancy’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, meanwhile, has its roots closer to home in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley and was also awarded Gold at the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
Today the Redamancy collection includes Chardonnay Brave, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pet-Nat, while Cabernet Franc and MC Blanc de Blanc are under production to expand the portfolio
Redamancy aims to produce premium grapes and wines while respecting the natural environment, working ethically with minimal intervention and creating meaningful employment and stronger livelihoods for the people connected to the vineyard.
“We believe pleasure and responsibility can sit comfortably together,” says Marc. “The wine has to be beautiful in the glass, but how it gets there matters too.”
For Redamancy, the awards are meaningful, but they are not the destination.
The ambition remains deceptively simple: to make wines with integrity and personality, remain curious about what each vintage can become and create bottles worthy of a place at the table.
Because wine, at its best, is rarely only about what is in the glass. It is about where it came from, who made it and who you share it with. And perhaps that is Redamancy in its truest sense: a love of wine, place and people, offered in the hope that the feeling is returned.
Redamancy Vineyards is a boutique, family-owned wine producer in Stellenbosch, creating limited-production wines from Stellenbosch and the Cape South Coast. Its portfolio includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Brave and Pet-Nat.
Wines are available directly from redamancy.co.za, with the Brave Chardonnay 2024 currently listed at R395 per bottle.
