Peachy, an award winning cute AF Dine Bar in the heart of Jozi, is a foodie showcase worth the highlight this week. Located at 44 Stanley, Peachy serves up modern street food, delicious cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere, with strict Covid measures and protocols in place.
Peachy was started by creative entrepreneur, Matt Suttner, and was created as a space that is easy, fun and fresh, with nostalgic vibes throughout. Suttner notes that he could not have picked a more perfect space for Peachy than 44 Stanley, and is quick to sing the praises of the stellar team at 44 Stanley who are immensely supportive of their tenants and their visions. Since opening in December 2020, Peachy has retained the same team it started with who are all incredibly talented at what they do and share in the same commitment to great customer service, and all share in the same vision for Peachy.
The interior design of Peachy was done by Heartspace, and was designed and implemented in only three weeks during a lockdown in 2020. Murano chandeliers hang over the candy stripe bar and the iridescent mosaics around the fireplace are straight out of Club 54. In the tree lined courtyard, oversized daybeds with retro stripe fabrics create the perfect spot to kick off your Choos, peach Margarita in hand. The outdoor courtyard and spacious indoor area with large windows are well-ventilated areas and provide ample opportunity for social distancing, without losing the unique vibe that Peachy has come to be known for.
The menu at Peachy was created by the talented Jess Doveton who is known for her inventive and interesting approach to far-eastern Asian flavours (particularly Thai). The modern tapas-styled dishes at Peachy are globally inspired (with an Asian and American twist) and all ingredients are locally sourced.
In June 2021, the Hospitality Counsel hosted their 3rd annual Luxe Restaurant Awards, celebrating the finest contributions to the South African restaurant industry, where over 100 nominees were shortlisted for the awards ceremony in categories ranging from the best fine dining restaurants to the best lifestyle restaurants in South Africa. It was at these awards that Peachy bagged top honours in the Ethnic Restaurant of the Year category – a mere six months after opening its doors.
From Wednesday to Friday, Peachy is open for brunch, lunch and dinner, and has proved to be a popular spot for remote workers thanks to its great coffee and wifi. On Saturday’s, disco funk & soul, and old school classics are the order of the day, and Sunday’s see live jazz at the Dine Bar. Bookings are advised for Saturdays and Sundays and can be made on Peachy’s website.
