Sadly, no such luck, it’s just when I decided to evaluate my diet and made some really big changes that I managed to see results. Well, here is what I learned,

  1. Timing the good carbs right – While I did not give up on carbs completely, I did ensure that I included fiber-rich whole grains that were satiating and nourishing as well! When I meant good carbs, I included oatmeal, millets, rice, sweet potato, and the works! About the timing bit, I ate carbs around my workouts and whoa, they did the needful, they helped me drop the fat and build lean muscles!
  2. Ate a lot of good fats – Eat fat to lose fat! Yes, fats have been demonized for far too long! But the good fats are great for your health. While there is a wealth of information on this topic, my take away from it was that fat does not trigger your insulin levels like sugar or simple carbs and it keeps you hormonally healthy too. What’s not to love?
  3. Finished up my dinner much before I hit the snooze button – Finishing dinner early is the key to fat loss and substantial weight loss. When you eat up too much right before your sleep time you gain fat in all the wrong areas.
  4. Sleep more to lose more – At least 7 hours of quality sleep is necessary to lose fat, be it from your belly or your arms! Skimping on sleep to spend more time with your gadgets? Uh-oh! Stop it right now and spend at least two hours of gadget-free time before bed.

Top Exercises to Get Rid of Arm Fat

  1. Arm Circles

This exercise is a perfect one to target your biceps, triceps, and shoulders.

Stand straight while keeping your feet flat on the ground and your arms extended out to the side and maintain a 90-degree angle to your body. Move your arms in firm fast circles forward. Try to include as many rotations as you can and then do it anti-clockwise. Take a breather and continue to do two more sets. You can do this exercise in a sitting position as well just keep your back straight while doing so.

This is a killer workout that makes you target your triceps.

Sit in a chair and grip the edge of the seat keeping your hands and legs stretched out in front of you. Now bend your arms at your elbows and move your body forward. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Raise your body and lower your body shifting the weight on your triceps. Do 15 repetitions and three sets.

  1. Push up

The push-up is a great way to build your torso strength. It targets your upper arms and additionally gives you a tight core.

Drop on all fours into a plank pose. Keep your hands and feet shoulder-width apart. Your body should be parallel to the floor. Keep your body well-aligned and raise your body an inch above the floor. If it seems too difficult for you to drop down your knees to do a knee-pushup. Start with five and then build your strength as you go.

  1. Plank Pose

Plank pose is an excellent pose to tone up flabby arms and the longer you are able to hold the slimmer would be your arms.

Drop down to the plank pose and maintain it for 30 seconds or more to make your arms leaner. Keep your wrists right under your shoulders and keep your back aligned straight. Balance your body weight on your arms and your feet.

  1. Downward Dog

If you are into yoga you would know the importance of the downward dog pose. It is as it sounds a reverse V shape. For this pose, keep your heels flat on the floor and your hands too pressed on the floor. Just don’t round your back. Hold this position for a longer period to challenge your body and your arms.
