Shimansky creates an 18K gold pendant in honour of Johnny Clegg
Johnny Clegg: a true South African icon and patriot

As a nation we are all saddened by the death of musical legend and activist, Johnny Clegg. His contributions to the anti-apartheid movement and to the rebuilding of a divided nation will last for eternity. As the nation mourns his passing, the Clegg family has thanked everyone abundantly for their support and has asked that instead of gifts or flowers – donations be given in Johnny’s memory to The Click Foundation. This foundation deploys online English literacy programmes in under-privileged primary schools across South Africa and is an organisation that Johnny was heavily involved in.

Gone, but never forgotten: asimbonanga

In loving memory of Johnny Clegg, CEO and Founder Yair Shimansky has designed an 18K gold pendant to commemorate his enormous contributions to our rainbow nation. All proceeds from the sales of these remembrance pendants will be donated to The Click Foundation in honour of the way Clegg exemplified the embrace of the ‘other’ and the reconciliation of a racial divide.

Yair wishes to raise as much money as possible to thank Johnny for his music and upliftment that has become part of the patchwork that is South African culture. Aside from inviting a large donation – owning this pendant leaves one with a jewellery piece to treasure the everlasting footprint left behind by Johnny.

The retail price for the commemorate pendant is R2995 and will be available at all Shimansky Showrooms from end July 2019.
