The 6th annual Bokeh South African International Lifestyle & Fashion Film Festival Gala Awards took place 13 July at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The awards were a fitting culmination to the successful weeklong festival of fashion and film workshops, screenings and masterclasses held in the centre court of the V&A.

The dazzling red carpet, black tie event situated in the Diamond Walk of the V&A, saw a veritable who’s who in the local fashion and film industry on the over 1500 people guest list, including MC, TV host and personality Maps Maponyane, Jeannie D and Mala Bryan.

 

Guests were greeted by a magical chandelier, welcome Pongracz MCC and the Cape Town Pops Orchestra conducted by Richard Cock and featuring world famous soprano Elizabeth Katarina.

Six top of the line Mercedes-Benz were showcased as well as a 10 metre revolving cat walk of 12 mannequins dressed in Jacques LaGrange couture.

Sponsor, Savanna offered guests a special Luxury Lounge while Skyy Vodka and Campari treated attendees with delicious cocktails and MAC and Sebastian Hair were on hand to make sure all looked their best with hair and make-up touch ups.

From the over 500 submitted films, all the Category Winners were awarded the designer Carrol Boyes trophies, Fuji Instax Cameras, and to some, substantial prize money!

The recipient of the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award went to acclaimed photographer and artist, Roger Ballen. Over the past four decades his controversial art and photography has cemented his place in the art world.

Winner of the Einat Dan International Creative Make Up and Body Art Championships and prize of R20 000 went to Charlie JVR, who wowed the judges and guest with his body art interpretation of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt.

The team of Adam Hansen of Cape Town walked away with the grand Fitch & Leedes Fashion Film award of R75 000.

The award for Best Cinematography went to Russian cinematographer Danil Goryunkov, for his submission ‘Clan’. The prize included the new Fuji XT3 valued at over R30 000 from Takeo Hata, MD of Fuji South Africa.

Marketing Strategist Cathy Steed, and Retail Manager of the V&A Waterfront Sheri Omoh selected the Best Dressed Man and Woman of the night. Winners Bradley Keen and Abongwe Qokela both walked away with a luxury hamper including gifts from Sunglass Hut, Tomes Luxury Chocolates, Sebastian, SKIN Fragrances, Mont Blanc, Coach, Michael Kors, La Martina, Chopard, V&A Waterfront, Pringle of Scotland and Witchery!

Those still in the mood to celebrate headed to a fabulous after party at Botanik Social House in the CBD.
