In these times of uncertainty, One thing we can most likely be certain about, is that cloth face masks are going to be around for a while giving reasons to find your inner creative self and find what suits you, your personality, style of fashion and just have fun with it when choosing or designing ones you like.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and other health professionals have been recommending that people wear masks when going out in public for months now and it was officially posted in the Government Gazette under regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on the 1st of May 2020.

Masks are not a fashion accessory, but they do take up a fair amount of real estate on your face, so it’s not surprising that people are looking for aesthetically pleasing ones and many people are opting for purchasing of masks they do not have to make themselves.

Fashion lovers and enthusiasts in South Africa and around the world are combining style and safety by donning colourful masks, sometimes even taking it to the next level to coordinate the fabric with their outfits.

A rise in masks and gloves as accessories saw Paris Fashion Week streets full of attendees rigged out in masks – both medical and homemade, as well as purses full of hand sanitizer and at some of the shows models walked the runway in masks.

A range of different cloth mask designs and couture can be found on online shopping websites such as takealot.com, superbalist.com, planet54.com and ESTY just name a few and in various fashion stores outlets around the country.
