Formed in 1963, 100 Black Men of America is one of the premier civic organizations working towards the empowerment and education of African-American teens. The fraternity has grown rapidly since its inception and now has 110 chapters with 10,000 members in the United States.
100 Black Men of America has reshaped the lives of 250,000 African-American youth through mentorship programs. The Las Vegas chapter of this organization alone mentors 100 students per week by providing them with tutors, taking them on field trips, and donating toys and books to their adopted schools.
Members of this organization are not just community leaders but also fashion icons. And nowhere was this more visible than the Black Tie Gala. As we all know, Black America has profoundly influenced modern-day fashion.
A few glimpses of this event show why when it comes to style and profiling, black Americans lead the way.
The Black Tie Gala saw men and women in delightful attires that oozed class and elegance. While women wore stylish evening gowns and cocktail dresses, men dawned tuxedos and formal suits.
Male attendants embraced the theme of the event by wearing elegant bow ties. Black suits too were ubiquitous and were the attire of choice for many members.
Aside from tuxedos and suits, Black Tie Gala also had several members representing African culture with some traditional attires. The beautiful and crafty attires native to the African continent added more colors to the evening.
Along with graceful suits, scarves that symbolized the 100 Black Men of America were present at the event. Notice the sleek and unique patterns on the scarf.
Men dressed in tuxedos in a wide variety of colors and styles made Black Tie Gala all the more iconic. There were even some colorful and funky bow ties on display as well.
Although Black Tie Galas are usually formal, this one had attendants in striking colors. Here, you see a dark blue floral suit, perfect for an evening dedicated to Black excellence.
Once again, traditional African attires were a consistent feature of the night. This combination of Lavender and Green designs stood out magnificently as the evening wore on.
Black fashion is anything but mundane. This unusual and brilliant combination of a fancy jacket with plain black pants is a great example of African-American ingenuity.
An Unforgettable Evening
Black Tie Gala was truly a magnificent event where members celebrated their service to the African-American communities and vowed to do more. Whether it was their commitment to the black youth or the way they dressed —the 100 Black of America members carried themselves like true leaders.
