Football‑inspired favourite films on screen
Studio Universal (DStv 112) will bring Super Soccer Saturday to a close this weekend with a double bill of football-inspired films on Saturday, 4 July. From the South African coming-of-age story Soccer Season: Offside to the action-packed comedy Shaolin Soccer, viewers can look forward to an afternoon of entertaining stories that celebrate the beautiful game both on and off the pitch.
Studio Universal’s Super Soccer Saturday will feature the following films:
Saturday, 4 July, 14:50 – Soccer Season: Offside. Mondli is captain of Soweto Kickers A Under 17 and is doing his best to lead his team. But with his father away, and his mother not coping at home, being a leader is not easy. When the competing demands of home and team cause clashes in his life, Mondli realises what true leadership really is.
Saturday, 4 July, 16:30 – Shaolin Soccer. In this hysterical, eye-popping comedy, a team of misfits take their best shot at winning a championship by mixing martial arts with soccer. Using unorthodox game play, they face the dreaded Team Evil in the ultimate battle for the title.
