ESPN Africa to broadcast the long-running sports news show SportsCenter, from 5 July

As the home of American sports, ESPN Africa is adding the US-version of popular long-running SportsCenter news show, featuring Scott Van Pelt and Elle Duncan to its weekday line up from Monday 5 July. Fans will now be able to enjoy the very best reporting from the world of sport as a new programme will air every weekday at 10:00, with repeats at 13:00 and 17:30 on ESPN and at 16:00 (CAT) on ESPN2.

After it premiered 30 years ago as ESPN’s first flagship show, SportsCenter went on to define the sports news genre through its reporting of breaking news, highlights, features and in-depth analysis from award-winning journalists. The show covers sports leagues, teams and athletes from around the world with frequent highlights of basketball, hockey, football, and baseball.

SportsCenter is also known for its recaps after sports events and its in-depth analysis by different anchors and popular sports figures including Van Pelt, Duncan and Stephen A. Smith, as well as its frequent use of irreverent humour through its light-hearted tone.
