The next leg of one of the largest national gaming tournaments in South Africa, the SHIFT Gaming Experience, brought to you by MTN and Hyprop, will be taking place in the Western Cape at Capegate Mall from 28 to 30 July 2023. More than a mere tournament, the event is set to be a gaming experience that all can enjoy.
Gamers from around the province will get to compete in the Football Tournament, played on FIFA 23™, for the chance to take home preliminary round prizes and go through to the national finale, taking place at Canal Walk from 25 to 27 August 2023.
Apart from the nail-biting FIFA 23™ action, Capegate Shopping Centre will be hosting several additional competitions ranging from F1™ and Fortnite™, to fighting games and Minecraft where gift cards and spot prizes will be up for grabs for the winners and runners-up, along with giveaways for spectators. Players and onlookers can also try their hand at games like Rocket League, Brawlhalla and Aim Lab. Plus, they can experience MTN Arena +, the country’s first cloud gaming platform; and participate in a keyboard rebuild race for the chance to win a keyboard.
Between April and August 2023, players around SA will be competing in online heats and face-to-face qualifying rounds at malls across the country. At the national finale, the finalists will battle it out to see who will be crowned the country’s greatest gamer and walk away with the R20 000 grand prize and the R10 000 and R5 000 prizes for the first and second runners-up. A Call of Duty tournament will be running concurrently with the final where a share of the R60 000 prize pool can be won.
