Iconic centre rolls out festive celebrations with extended trading hours
The trees are up, the lights are on, and the joyful hum of gift wrapping has begun. Sandton City, Africa’s premier shopping destination, is orchestrating a symphony of excitement to ensure this festive season surpasses all expectations.
For starters, a uniquely crafted children’s’ theatre production, Momo’s Magical Adventure, is set to enchant shoppers of all ages, this coming holiday. Shows have started in in a bespoke crafted tent in the centre court outside Checkers and will run until 7 January 2024. In this heart-warming tale, Momo’s friends have left Johannesburg for the summer holidays to go to the sea and she’s the only one left in the big city. Time has passed by slowly, but Momo’s favourite night of the year has finally arrived- it’s Christmas Eve! Four live performances of this charming production will take place daily at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm, from Tuesday to Sunday. Tickets are now available on the Sandton City website and selling fast.
Of course, Santa Claus himself is making an appearance, ready to receive letters and delight families with photographs. He has arrived at Sandton City and will is stationed outside Checkers, where photo opportunities will be enhanced by an exquisite range of merchandise extensions until Christmas Eve.
The incredible Disney hot air balloon, adorned with 800 plush toys of your favourite Disney characters, will bring smiles to faces, in the Protea court, until 7 January. Here, for a minimum donation of R 50 via a QR code, shoppers can make a memorable difference in the life of a child living with a critical illness as both the plush toy and the funds will be donated to the non-profit organisation, Reach for a Dream.
With its over 300 retailers, Sandton City remains the unparalleled gift shopping destination in South Africa, housing the world’s most prestigious brands, many of which are exclusive in the country. Of course, gift wrapping before departing the centre, to ensure nobody gets a peak is essential, which has been taken care of. Gifts can be wrapped for a small donation towards the Sandton SPCA at a wrapping station on level 6 near H&M Home and level 4 opposite Jet, from 7 – 24 December. And, for those who prefer to give the gift of choice, a Sandton City gift card and online gift card will make any recipient’s day.
