Pair up fusion style at Steak Grill and Co.

The recently opened Steak Grill and Co in Florida Road will be hosting its first wine and food pairing evening this coming Wednesday, June 5th.

Located in Atherton House which was built in 1904, Steak Grill and Co is not only the only steakhouse in South Africa housed in a national monument but also a venue that combines the age old art of cooking a fine steak with the expertise needed to pair good food with some of the country’s finest wines.

ON arrival, our guest can pick up a welcome glass of Nederberg Heritage Hero’s – Beautiful lady (Gewurztraminer).

The first course will be crocodile tail dusted with paprika and flour, pan friend in fresh farm butter and tossed through a silky litchi reduction and then finished with organic kiwi fruit and passionfruit pulp. This unique and fully flavoured wild starter will be paired with a glass of Nederberg Heritage Heroes – The Young Air Hawk (blanc fume).

The second course celebrates traditional KZN spice and the seafood treasures of the East Coast. You can look forward to a Pacific rim style curry infused with plump prawns and fresh crab, flavoured with fresh chili and lime and accompanied with a crispy poppadum. This magnificent meal will be paired with Nederberg Heritage Heroes The Anchorman Chenin Blanc.

Next on the menu is an oven roasted, free range duck glazed with honey and finished with a duck stock, brandy and black cherry reduction and accompanied with a smoked beetroot risotto. This will be paired with Lederberg’s Heritage Heroes, the Motorcycle Marvel (Rhone Style blend).

For the diner with a sweet tooth, there’s a delicious dessert – a deep fried chocolate brownie with spicy dark chocolate and plum ice cream – paired with Nederberg’s Heritage Heroes, Brew Masters (Bordeaux Blend).
