On 16 June 2021, Listing Jozi, a new property-themed reality TV show, produced by AlternaTV, will take to our screens and showcase the City of Gold like never before. The show will join BBC’s local line-up, Wednesdays at 20h00 on BBC Lifestyle, DStv channel 174. Listing Jozi will follow five high-end realty brokers from Johannesburg as they traverse the complicated yet enticing landscape of real estate in order to successfully list and sell multimillion rand houses in Jozi’s affluent suburbs and surroundings.

Listing Jozi will feature some of Jozi’s finest and most opulent suburbs like Waterfall, Dainfern, Morningside, Hyde Park, Strathavon and Sandton in the centre financial district, to Meyersdal in JHB South and everywhere in between, with properties ranging from apartments in the mid R5 millions to spectacular mansions of over R45 million. The show will also feature a host of influential buyers and sellers including successful business personas, local sport stars, celebrities and property moguls who will all try and get the best value for their money in the current financial climate.

Viewers will share in the journey of the following high-end realty brokers from across Jozi:

The show is produced by AlternaTV who are no strangers to the production world in South Africa.

Reality television producers Nico Nel and Trevor Kaplan have been carving out a niche genre for themselves under the AlternaTV banner over the past few years, having played various creative and co-production roles in local reality television shows like High Alert (CBS Reality) and Rumble & Hum (CBS Reality). The pair jumped at the opportunity to create South Africa’s first reality property show when the opportunity presented itself at the end of 2019.

“This is our very first, solely owned and produced reality show that we are immensely proud of. As if 2020 could not have been any more challenging, we decided to venture even further down the rabbit hole of financial uncertainties and continued to commit to and produced a first of its kind, entertaining glimpse into the lives of some of Joburg’s biggest names in the real estate game”, Nel explains.

“We are extremely fortunate to have crossed paths with a handful of very talented and successful agents for this season of Listing Jozi, as each brings a truly unique dynamic to the show”, Kaplan added.

Pierre Cloete, Commercial Director for Branded Services, Sub-Saharan Africa at BBC Studios says “Listing Jozi is a fantastic addition to BBC Lifestyle, joining our fresh line-up of local content every Wednesday. With an exclusive peek into some of Jozi’s high-end homes, humour and lots of hustle, I’m thrilled to be working with AlternaTV to bring their brilliant production to audiences in South Africa”

Justin Hardman, Executive Producer for the show, believes that the growing demand for South African content is due to the fact that our country and its people are extremely diverse and that our content travels well to other parts of the continent, and as such Listing Jozi is celebrating exactly that. “We have started pre-production on Listing Cape Town and hope to share that journey with the world very soon,” Hardman adds.

Be sure to tune in to the premiere of Listing Jozi on Wednesday 16 June 2021 at 20h00 on BBC Lifestyle DStv channel 174, with new episodes every Wednesday at 20h00.
