It’s that time of year again when holidaymakers flock to our sandy shores to experience the best that the Mid-South Coast has to offer. This year, the exciting Mardi Gras is set to bring Scott Street to life on December 22. This annual event, hosted by the Lions Club of Scottburgh, is one of the oldest celebrations in Umdoni.
First held in 1993, the Scottburgh Mardi Gras has united many communities in the spirit of entertainment and family fun. Like many other service projects, this event helps the Lions raise funds for various causes, including free eye screenings, diabetic screenings, childhood cancer support, hunger programmes, and environmental projects. Lions President Dennis Botha stated that the event is a team effort that revitalizes Scottburgh and brings the community together.
Preparations are underway, with a wide array of entertainment planned for everyone to enjoy. Attractions include jumping castles, a soapbox derby, pony rides, children’s entertainment, visits from Father Christmas, clowns, and live DJs to keep the carnival spirit alive. Additionally, there will be a variety of stalls offering food, clothing, fresh fruits and vegetables, toys, health products, and much more.
The event promises to be fantastic, with plenty of activities for the whole family. Don’t miss out!
