Born Nthabeleng Matela, Mat Elle is a DJ – known as the leading Afro Tech lady and as such, refers to herself as the Queen of Afro Tech. Mat Elle is a multitalented star who’s also had an illustrious career in radio. Her 2022 is off to a great start as she anchors ‘The Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good’, a new radio show on Metro FM. Mat Elle previously hosted an award nominated show also on Metro FM, ‘The 4 AM Club with Mat Elle’.
Infamously known for rocking crowds with her immaculate song selection, the Queen of Afro Tech has made TV appearances on Trace Africa, Trace Urban, MTV Base, Lockdown House Party on Channel O, PJ Party with DJ Zinhle and the Get2GetherExperience on SABC 1. Her love for opulent spaces and scenic views can be felt in her song selection. Her mixes are a fusion of Afro Tech and Deep Tech sounds which create an atmosphere of class and elegance.
Mat Elle was also a headline DJ for the ‘Tap Into Metro FM Cruise’ where she played three amazing sets, on cruise to the Portuguese islands. She plans on doing more local tours and gigs in Africa this year. For 2022, Mat Elle aims on dominating the radio space and becoming one of the best radio presenters in South Africa. She is also planning on elevating her DJing career as well as releasing her own music. Mat Elle is currently in studio working on her first single. We can definitely expect more Afro tech hits from her during the course of the year.
Women empowerment is very important to Mat Elle as she also plans to become an outspoken ambassador for the importance of equality and unity amongst women. She would like to make use of her public persona and broadcasting platforms to offer love, support and a framework of values to many South African women and young girls nationally.
