One of SA’s most loved and talented comedians, Jason Goliath, is taking his one-man comedy show, Dala – It Is What It Is to Cape Town and Durban this February and March.

The self-reflective show sees Jason sharing meaningful insights and starting unexpected conversations in his trademarked hilarious fashion.

Jason will take to the stage at the Bat Centre in Durban on Saturday, February 25 and the Homecoming Center in Cape Town on Wednesday and Thursday, March 1 and 2.

The iconic South African comedian’s latest show, Dala – It Is What It Is was incredibly well received during its November run in Johannesburg.

“It was an environment where people laughed hard but also ‘learned hard’ and ‘felt hard’,” he said.

“Durban and Cape Town can expect exactly that, it’s more than stand-up comedy – it’s meaningful, relatable, it’s South African,” says Jason, adding that the show offers insights into diversity, inclusivity, culture, and the repercussions of the country’s political past.

Dala – It Is What It Is is a follow-up to Jason’s 2019 one-man motivational comedy stand-up show, ‘Manstruation: Surviving a Wife’, which is currently available on Showmax.

Durban and Cape Town audiences can look forward to Jason sharing his views on the world’s need for levity. He believes that humanity is in survival mode, grappling with depression and anxiety as a society, and he is eager to spread some joy and happiness and share how he has held on to positivity in trying times.

Dala – It Is What It Is, is inspired by the most important word Jason grasped during lockdown; ‘acceptance’ and will include unfiltered, anecdotes about his life, his journey, uncomfortable truths, and how he learned to “Dala” (do) what he had to, to persevere.

Commenting on the informative style of comedy, which fans can experience in Dala – It Is What It Is, he says that although the show is as educational as it is funny, the ultimate goal is to make people laugh. “Funny first always!

The award-winning comedian insists that although humour is always at the forefront, he believes stand-up comedy can be deep and meaningful.

“I think the show is perfect for the country’s current climate. We are ready to have conversations that we were never ready for, I think we just need to have someone start those conversations. In order to get us to share our cultures because I believe intolerance is bred by ignorance, if you don’t understand something it’s easy to discriminate against it and be negative towards it, but the more we share, and the more we understand the more we can empathize and celebrate each other,” he says.

The self-reflective show is backed by Jason’s mantra, “Chase Your Happy”, inspired by everyday life and real experiences, audiences can expect a hilarious, raw, loud, and authentic show.

Jason plans on taking the show on tour across South Africa, visiting Gqeberha, East London, Kimberly, and Bloemfontein later this year.
