The branding and entertainment industry has experienced a rise in operations, and a shift in the standard way of conducting business. Many companies have undergone a unique transformation in their organizational structure. Nowadays, there is a ‘Business Of One’ mindset that has emerged, where employees are expected to treat their employer’s business as their own. This mentality encourages employees to look beyond just receiving a paycheck but to also have a strong desire for the organization to succeed and achieve its goals. The flexible work structure, accelerated by environmental and social factors such as COVID-19, has changed our perception of CEOs, founders, managers, and directors of companies.

Global access to social media has led people to seek independence and explore a variety of work opportunities. Many individuals feel that the corporate environment restricts their creativity and hobbies, which are often not integrated into work structures. For many, their hobbies outside of work are their passion, and they have turned them into businesses where they offer services, sell products, and promote themselves in their niche.

The rise of social media has opened up opportunities for people to pursue ventures outside of the traditional 9-to-5 setup. As more people join social media and establish themselves as trendsetters, brand identity and development continue to increase. Some changemakers challenge societal norms and break boundaries that limit their progress, leading to the rise of influencer CEOs and creative directors.

Pop culture also plays a significant role in helping social media users and influencers overcome their circumstances through content sharing that is both entertaining and informative. Their content is carefully planned and structured to meet the needs of their audience, thus increasing their followers. These entertainment entrepreneurs are also business-minded and view themselves as self-employed. They face societal challenges that hinder them from obtaining formal employment, but some have successfully broken free from the traditional corporate environment by leveraging their hobbies or profitable side hustles.

Partnerships and collaborations with fellow influencers and brands play a key role in supporting their small businesses. Endorsements such as brand ambassadorships and spokesperson roles give influencers creative control and insights into business operations. Their micro-businesses in content sharing create employment opportunities and provide valuable corporate experience. They eventually lead their own businesses with titles like CEOs and Creative Directors, driven by the ‘Business Of One’ mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The power of influencers being endorsed by corporate organizations, advertising agencies, and marketers should not be underestimated. It’s a significant milestone in one’s profession and career path. Recognition by such entities means that their craft, personality, or brand aligns with theirs. By partnering with these businesses and agencies, both parties can achieve their objectives and gain exposure to new markets and audiences.
