Reddford House Class of 2023 achieve 99% pass rate and 86% bachelor pass rate

The Class of 2023 at Reddford House‘s three Johannesburg-based schools – Reddford House Northcliff, Reddford House Blue Hills, and Reddford House The Hills – have achieved excellent results in the demanding International Examinations Board (IEB) national senior certificate exams. The three schools, with a total of 166 students across the three campuses, achieved a 99% pass rate and 86% bachelor pass rate. Reddford House is part of the globally renowned Inspired Education Group and are non-selective schools that pride themselves on ensuring that students reach their full individual potential in a nurturing yet disciplined environment that ensures exceptional academic standards and results.

The highlights of this year’s Reddford House results include:

  • 14 students with four distinctions or more
  • 197 subject distinctions
  • Distinctions per student increased to 1.19 in 2023
  • Overall averages increased to 59% in 2023

Reddford House Northcliff

Reddford House Northcliff had six students with four or more distinctions, with Viresh Chetty achieving an outstanding nine distinctions. He achieved 94% for accounting, 93% for physical sciences and 91% for mathematics. Zain Kaka and Lameez Madhi each achieved seven distinctions. Three students achieved four distinctions, namely Jessica Rashama, Sibusisiwe Parirenyatwa and Matthew van Rooijen.

Zain Kaka achieved a national ranking within the top 5% in six or more subjects, placing him on the IEB Outstanding Achievement List.

Five students – Shikaar Singh and Nokukhanya Vundla from Reddford House Blue Hills, and Zoe Phumo, Jessica Rashama and Lameez Madhi from Reddford House Northcliff – were recognised in the top 1% of IEB candidates per subject nationally.

Reddford House Northcliff’s 54 Class of 2023 students achieved 75 subject distinctions, giving an average of 1.39 distinctions per student. They achieved a 100% pass rate and 91% bachelor pass rate, with an overall average of 65.68%.

Reddford House Northcliff proudly announces the remarkable achievement of matric student Matthew van Rooijen, who has triumphed over adversity to attain four distinctions. Matt’s journey has been marked by challenges, as he battled severe Dyslexia, ADD, and later, a diagnosis of Aspergers. Despite these hurdles, Matt refused to let his disabilities become excuses and, with unwavering determination, pursued therapy and sports. Transitioning from mainstream to home school and eventually to a private school in Krugersdorp, Matt faced difficulties but found his calling in athletics under the mentorship of coach Peter Jacobs. His move to Reddford in Grade 10, supported by a sports sponsorship, marked a turning point, and with professional coaching, Matt’s academic and athletic performance soared. Now, having represented South Africa in Zambia and securing notable achievements, Matt is poised to pursue a professional athletic career, aiming for the SA under-23 and open teams, with aspirations to compete in the 2028 Olympics. Amidst his outstanding accomplishments, Matt remains focused on his future in athletics, planning to pursue studies at a later stage.

Reddford House Blue Hills

Five students achieved over four distinctions each at Reddford House Blue Hills, with two students achieving seven distinctions, namely Shikaar Singh and Tshegofatso Kgatshe. Mhlengi Dlamini achieved six distinctions, while Nokukhanya Vundla and Mohammed Govindasamy each received five distinctions.

The Class of 2023 from Reddford House Blue Hills achieved a 100% pass rate and a 92% bachelor pass rate, with an overall average of 66.83%. The 51 students received 72 subject distinctions, which equates to an average of 1.41 distinctions per student.

Reddford House The Hills

One student received five distinctions and two – Tlou Ramasenya and Lebogang Matlou – received four distinctions each. The Class of 2023’s overall average was 61.75% with a 98% pass rate and 77% bachelor pass rate.
