Fundi has once again partnered with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and other sector contributors to celebrate teaching excellence in Mpumalanga. These provincial awards recognise the outstanding contribution of educators working across the province to shape, inspire and nurture the learners of today to be leaders of tomorrow.

Fundi recently joined local celebrations to support the DBE’s Mpumalanga Award Ceremony in Witbank this year – contributing towards prizes for the winners.

The annual National Teaching Awards (NTAs) appreciate and acknowledge the region’s teachers and educators. “This annual event recognises exceptional teachers in South Africa – acknowledging their hard work and dedication in shaping the future of our country’s youth,” explains Mary Maponya, Fundi’s Executive Head of Lending. “It celebrates innovative and effective teaching practices that make a positive impact on learners’ lives, while motivating teachers to continue striving for excellence in education.”

She notes that Fundi has been a proud supporter of the awards since 2022, contributing to various regional events, including those in the Free State and Mpumalanga: “Our involvement is part of our broader commitment to supporting education in South Africa and contributing positively to the development of our teaching community. Through this partnership, we want to promote teaching excellence, encourage best practices and honour the dedicated educators who make a positive impact on learners’ lives.”

Maponya notes that people often don’t acknowledge or recognise the profound impact teachers have on industries across the nation. “They are the ones that shape our doctors, teachers, lawyers, marketing specialists, designers and leaders: the list goes on.”

“We want to thank teachers in Mpumalanga for their hard work, and to recognise their contribution,” says Maponya. “We salute and honour these men and women who continue to strive for excellence in enhancing the quality of education in South Africa. They ‘show up’ daily to pass on critical skills and knowledge despite being faced with various challenges. We are inspired by the passion and dedication we have witnessed here today.

“As Fundi, we will continue to support your growth and development paths with our solutions – and are privileged to be part of your journey. We congratulate each of you and wish you every success going forward,” she concludes.
