South African JSE-listed independent education provider, Curro Holdings is delighted to announce the appointment of Naomi Herbst as the new Operational Head, at Curro Burgundy in Cape Town, effective 1 July 2024.

Herbst rejoins the Curro family, having previously worked as the Foundation Phase Head at Curro Century City. She brings a wealth of experience and a passion for educational excellence, having held significant positions across the Western Cape, including Head of Department and Senior Teacher at UCT Online School, and most recently, Project Based Specialist and Head of E-Learning at Gene Louw Primary School.

“I am very excited to be returning to the Curro family as the Group creates an educational home where learners can reach their full potential under the guidance of passionate and well-trained educators. It’s an honour to be part of a structure that fosters personal and educational growth opportunities in sync with the fast-paced world of EdTech,” she said.

Herbst completed a degree in International Studies from Stellenbosch University in 2008. She also obtained a PGCE (cum laude) as well as a Bachelor of Education Honours degree from UNISA.

Passionate about the holistic development of learners, Herbst is especially keen to develop culture and sport at the small, intimate primary school, whilst instilling the Curro ethos in her daily leadership to help foster well-rounded learners. Curro Burgandy enjoys a close partnership with Curro Century City to give learners wider access to an outstanding array of facilities, and further enhance the local community.

Commenting on the appointment, Christiaan Maree, Executive Head of both Curro Burgundy and Curro Century City, expressed his enthusiasm, saying “Naomi is an energetic educator with a proven track record. Her dedication to innovative teaching and leadership as well as her exceptional work in 21st-century learning aligns perfectly with our offerings and values. We believe that her creative and hands-on leadership style will positively engage learners, staff, and our close-knit Burgundy school community.”
