4 Factors Proving Gender Does Not Restrict Individual Education Level

There has been a lot of discussions on equity, gender equality and how the girl child has been restricted from getting well-educated up to a higher level. There are arguments that say that women are restricted from getting educated up to higher levels. They say a lot of them just get educated up to high school, and many of them do not get the chance to go to college and graduate with a degree.

But this is the 21st century. Things are different today. Thanks to various socio-economic advancements, the girl child can get educated up to the Ph.D. degree level today. Advanced education policies has ensured that anyone can get educated and overcome the prior restrictions placed before. Here are some factors that prove that gender does not restrict education level today.

  1. Online education:

In some communities, women were not allowed to go out if they are not accompanied by males. So, a lot of them were prevented from going to school. Today, we have online education. Anyone can now get degrees online regardless of their gender. So, a woman can go from the bachelor’s degree level up to the doctoral degree level right from the comfort of her home. Now, there is nothing restricting anyone from reaching high educational levels.

  1. Scholarships:

Today, we have more scholarships than ever before. There are even some special scholarships for women alone. In the past, a lot of people opted to spend money on the male child rather than the female child as education was expensive. But young girls and women can benefit from these scholarships and ensure that they get a good education. These scholarships include the Society of Women Engineers Scholarship, the Go Girl! Grant, Jeanette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Fund and others.

  1. Free education:

In several countries of the world, education is free up to the doctoral level. There are places where girls enjoy heavy subsidies to motivate them to go to school and advance their education as further as possible. Residents of one country can now travel to another country to enjoy the free education available in those countries. The world is a global village, and it is now easier and cheaper to travel to another country and get educated for free.

  1. Better educational policies:

Organizations like UNESCO, the United Nations and others have drafted a lot of educational policies that have advanced the education of the girl child. Education is now a fundamental human right and restricting anyone from getting educated is now a punishable offense. Thanks to these policies and several other efforts like sensitizations, grants and others, more women are educated today, and they have gone to achieve great things in life.
