Reach For A Dream is dedicated to making dreams come true for children facing life-threatening illnesses. For over 37 years, the foundation continues to fulfil six dreams a day through community support and fundraising initiatives such as the Dream Raffle, bringing joy to the young dreamers who need it most.
Now in its 30th year, the Dream Raffle continues to inspire hope by offering incredible prizes while raising essential funds to fulfil dreams and uplift the spirits of children facing their toughest times. This year, the raffle aims to put smiles on the faces of 200 children with life-threatening illnesses by making their dreams come true.
The charitable draw seeks to fulfil more dreams like that of Vhutali Makananise from Mankweng, Polokwane. The 17-year-old outgoing and lively girl is full of joy and dreams of being an oncologist one day. Living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia does not bring Vhutali’s passionate energy down, she shows out by dancing to her favourite songs at any given moment.
Vhutali’s dream was a simple yet powerful one; she dreamed of owning a cellphone to stay connected to her family and friends back home while she is in Johannesburg receiving treatment. Her dream was revealed after a thrilling afternoon of trampolines and slides into the ball pits at Bounce in Mall of Africa. The trampoline park’s mascot matched her vibrant energy and danced out holding a beautifully wrapped box, headed for the star of the day.
With cheers to open the box from everyone in the park, Vhutali unwrapped her brand-new phone and jumped for joy. She celebrated her dream come true in dance and laughter, sharing this beautiful moment with her family.
