LADLES OF LOVE TO ATTEMPT MANDELA DAY WORLD RECORD – AND YOU’RE INVITED
Ladles of Love, is setting out to break the Guinness World Record

This Mandela Day, 18 July 2022, Ladles of Love, is setting out to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest mosaic created entirely out of food cans. Taking place simultaneously in two cities – with a gigantic Madiba face being created in Cape Town at the CTICC and a massive South African flag being created in Johannesburg’s Nelson Mandela Square – the public is invited to be part of this globally significant charity initiative.

Every food can collected for the mosaic will be donated to communities in need. Ladles of Love is calling on willing South Africans to volunteer or contribute – and be a part of making history. The initiative already has the support of Coronation Fund Managers and big-hearted members of the public.

The two-day event will be held in two cities, to provide multiple ways for the people of South African to volunteer their 67 minutes for Mandela Day on Sunday 17 and Monday 18 July 2022.

GET INVOLVED AND BECOME A PART OF RECORD-BREAKING HISTORY:

If you would like to be a part of this world record attempt and contribute to food security for thousands of people in need, you can donate 67 minutes of your time at one of the venues for a fee of R150, which will go towards buying of bulk nutritious food. Alternatively, sponsor five food cans for R100. Volunteer or make your contribution online via Webtickets at: https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2/search.aspx?search=ladles+of+love.

This is not Ladles of Love’s first attempt at a world record. The world record for the ‘longest line of food cans’ was smashed by more than double at the V&A Waterfront on 29 August 2021 with a 6.7km line of 94 560 food cans. The previous year the world record for the ‘most amount of sandwiches made in one hour’ was broken by a mind-boggling 304 000 homemade sandwiches as compared to the previous record of 115 000. Every year all food raised is distributed to over 200 soup kitchens who collectively feed 30 000 people a day.

Coronation Fund Managers, which has a long-term partnership with Ladles of Love to tackle food security in SA, as well as other sponsors, such as Rhodes Quality, CTICC and Nelson Mandela Square are supporting the initiative.
