DSC Attorneys has announced that its 2022 annual golf day held at the Durbanville Golf Club raised a total of R244,500 for Woodside Special Care Centre.

“This year’s event was our eighth Golf Day in support of the Centre,” says Kirstie Haslam, partner at DSC Attorneys. “Twenty-nine four-balls participated, including the first ever DSC ladies’ four-ball.”

She says that sincere thanks go out to the forty generous sponsors – and a huge well done to everyone who helped make the event a success.

Gerald Weinberg, who has been a board member at Woodside Special Care Centre for thirty-five years says: Thank you so much for the amazing effort you put into the most important event on the Woodside Special Care calendar. Your endless hours of preparation were once again evident in the extreme professionalism of the entire DSC Attorneys organization.”

He says that he hopes to be part of this amazing event in 2023 and continue to represent Woodside Special Care Centre for many years to come.

Haslam points out that in 2020 and 2021, the pandemic prevented DSC from hosting its annual Golf Days. “So we’re especially pleased that this year, we could resume our Golf Day tradition,” she says. “Together, everyone who participated helped raise a meaningful sum in support of a worthy cause. It was also a thoroughly enjoyable day.”

Since 1976, Woodside Special Care Centre has been offering special care for children and young adults with profound mental and physical disabilities.

Haslam says that the Centre does amazing work, providing a safe haven and improving the quality of life for about eighty full-time residents.

“It provides these young people with twenty-four hour special care, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, self-help skills and professional nursing,” she concludes.
