The event is all the more appreciated given that many of the young learners of Paradise Bend Primary School, where this year’s activation and first delivery takes place, are children of some of the contracted staff at Steyn City. “This is our way of showing them gratitude, by gifting a little joy back to their children,” says Zoe van Onselen, Head of Marketing at Steyn City Properties.
This year, gifts of tote bags filled with stationery, toys and sweets ensured that children get to receive brand new school supplies and toys ahead of the new year. Packs for learners included pencils, pens, note book, erasers, colouring in books, sticker sheets, puzzles, toys and games, and a party bucket with snacks and sweets.
This year’s edition of Delivering Happiness to Diepsloot included a visit from CATI, a furry feline, and MC Eddie Matladi who gave an interesting and entertaining presentation about looking after animals and pet care. Another highlight came in the form of a guest appearance by BIC® Boy, who lit up the stage with dynamic dance moves from Zinto dancers as part of a show that had the children clapping and stomping with glee. They were also able to win fabulous spot prizes.
Meanwhile SAPS, JMPD and Fidelity also lent their services to support the Steyn City Foundation crew.
This is the twelfth annual Delivering Happiness to Diepsloot for Steyn City’s Foundation is bringing fun-filled and joyful activations to Diepsloot, allowing the community’s children to absorb the festivities of this special time of year.
“We truly love being able to play a role in our neighbouring community. It was always the plan for Steyn City to be more than a home to those who live there – we want to create a legacy that benefits all South Africans. As our foundation’s annual initiative, ‘Delivering Happiness to Diepsloot’, speaks directly to this goal,” Van Onselen concludes.
