DSC Attorneys hosted its 10th annual golf day in aid of the Woodside Special Care Centre at the Durbanville Golf Club. The event raised a record-breaking R331,530 since the events inception in 2013 which has seen over R2-million raised.
Since 1976, Woodside Special Care Centre has been offering special care for children and young adults with profound mental and physical disabilities.
30 x 4-balls participated in the day and the winning 4-ball for the day was the team of Limecrop, namely Renso Nel, Robert Saunders, Jurie Swart & Danie Raubenheimer.
Representing DSC Attorneys staff were two 4-ball teams – a men’s team and the “Bombsquad”, DSC’s women’s team.
“To mark our 10th golf day – which coincides with DSC’s 20th anniversary – we raffled a travel voucher to the value of R50 000,” says Kirstie Haslam partner at DSC Attorneys. “Tickets were limited to 200 only and we raised R95 750 from this alone, boosting our final total for the day substantially. The lucky winner of the voucher was Andy Weddell.”
She continues: “In total we raised a record-breaking R331 530, which brings the total amount of funds raised for Woodside – since the inception of the golf day in 2013 – to a fantastic R2 086 733.”
“A heartfelt thank you has to go to all our valued sponsors, without whose generosity we would not have been able to reach the significant milestone of our 10th Golf Day in support of Woodside,” says Haslam.
Apart from all having a fun filled day, she says that her firm is so happy to support such a worthwhile cause. “The Woodside Special Care centre does amazing work, providing a safe haven and improving the quality of life for about 80 full-time disabled residents,” says Haslam. “It provides these young people with 24-hour special care, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, self-help skills and professional nursing.”
